FORTUS 200mc

Practical, in-office RP convenience and control

FORTUS 200mc creates real parts in durable ABSplus plastic, tough enough for conceptual prototype, moderate functional testing and end-use parts. FORTUS 200mc uses patented FDM™ (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology and is designed to fit in any office environment without the need for special venting or office modifications.
Designed to be simple to use, the FORTUS 200mc gives you the key features you need for practical prototyping. Just plug it in, load material and manufacture parts. The simplicity of dissolving support structures with WaterWorks™ saves processing time, meaning you can manufacture more parts in less time.
Driven by powerful Insight™ software, which automatically imports and prepares STL files for processing makes the FORTUS 200mc simple to operate and allows you the control to automatically process your part with a single button or customize your part to optimize aesthetics, feature strength, resolution, material consumption and/or through put.

FORTUS 360mc

Developed for demanding applications and high-accuracy.

The FORTUS 360mc was designed for users with demanding applications that require the same accuracy, repeatability and material specifications of more expensive FDM systems, but don’t need as much throughput. Developed from the high-end mc (manufacturing center) system line, performance improvements are a result of enhancements in the manufacturing process & various electromechanical components. Most notable are the XY gantry and head flow control parameters. The XY gantry has improved straightness and stiffness resulting in more accurate head positional accuracy. The head flow control parameters have been optimized for denser part fills resulting in increased mechanical part strength.
FORTUS 400mc

The FORTUS 400mc is accurate, repeatable and configurable for your manufacturing needs.

Advancement in technology and materials increase part accuracy and part strength.
Technology advancements in both the design and manufacturing of the extrusion head gantry make it straighter and stiffer. This holds the extrusion head to a tighter positional accuracy that can produce parts with a higher tolerance. And it results in performance that is repeatable.
The FORTUS 400mc has an increased build speed of 29 percent*. Unlike competitive technologies, this speed increase does not come at the expense of part quality — due to the stiffer gantry, improved extrusion parameters, and better extrusion flow control. These innovations allow part quality to improve, even at the faster speeds.
The newest material, ABS-M30 launched with the FORTUS 400mc, has significant improvements over standard ABS including; tensile strength, impact strength and flexural strength. Mechanical properties of ABS-M30 is up to 67% stronger than standard ABS**, expanding functional capabilities. The FORTUS 400mc can build with the following optional materials: ABS-M30, PC, PC-ABS, and PPSF. Plans call for the eventual addition of ABS, ABSi, and PC-ISO, which are currently available on other FDM systems.
Due to improved build parameters and hardware improvements, parts manufactured from either PC-ABS or PC on an FORTUS 400mc are significantly stronger than the respective parts built on other FDM systems. PC-ABS parts are up to 17 percent stronger when built on the FORTUS 400mc, and PC parts are up to 29 percent stronger.
Technology advancements in combination with the stable thermoplastics used, enables the FORTUS 400mc to outperform nearly any competing technology in accuracy and repeatability. Extensive testing shows that the FORTUS 400mc maintains this repeatable performance when manufacturing multiple identical parts in different runs, at various platform positions, and on various machines.
Users can customize their system, selecting the material packages and build-envelope size as needed. Only pay for the capabilities you need. Standard build-envelope size is 14 x 10 x 10 in. (356 x 254 x 254mm); optional build-envelope size is 16 x 14 x 16 in. (406 x 356 x 406). The larger build-envelope option includes additional material bays for longer running jobs.
FORTUS 900 mc

The FORTUS 900mc is completely re-engineered for size, throughput, precision, and repeatability.

The FORTUS 900mc is based on a new platform, distinct from previous FDM additive fabrication systems used for production or prototyping. The head gantry is driven by ball screw technology as opposed to previous machines, which are belt driven. This results in a marked improvement in predictability and repeatability. The resulting positional accuracy and part tolerance are substantially improved over previous systems.

Stratasys to Add SABIC’s ULTEM 9085 High Performance Thermoplastic for Direct Digital Manufacturing & Rapid Prototyping
Stratasys announced today at the EuroMold Show in Frankfurt, that it will offer SABIC’s ULTEM* 9085, a highperformance thermoplastic for direct digital manufacturing and rapid prototyping. The material will be available from Stratasys for the FDM additive fabrication process in the first quarter of 2009.
ULTEM 9085 is a strong, lightweight, flame-retardant thermoplastic widely used in aircraft interiors. The material has a V-Ø rating for flame, smoke and toxicity (FST). Its availability for the FDM additive fabrication process will allow direct digital manufacturing and rapid prototyping with this material for the first time.
Stratasys Smoothing Station Makes FDM Parts as Smooth as Injection Molding
Additive fabrication system maker, Stratasys, today introduced the Smoothing Station,™ which improves the surface finish of ABS-based thermoplastic parts made via FDM. The improved smoothness is equal to an injection molded part. The system’s semi-automated process provides a surface finish of 32 to 63 microns. Without the process, design and manufacturing engineer s requiring an FDM part with this level of smoothness must manually fill, sand, and paint the part. By using a Stratasys FDM additive fabrication system with the new Smoothing Station, injection molded-quality parts can be created in just a few minutes, saving hours of labor.
